1859 4 Dual Ambrotypes in Traditional Case (outside) |
(Story continued from the image of the inside of the case.) This appears to be a traditional case made of wood with a leather cover. Each half of the case is 2.5 inches wide and almost 2.9 inches tall. As we found, the image size is "ninth" (2.0" x 2.5"). In case it makes a difference, I left space around the case to see the hook. -- The gilding around the edge of both the inside and outside of the case seems to match gPaisleyFilled in "Fixed in Time." This gilding was in use from 1850 to 1859. -- The case pattern matches #837 Paige's Geometric in "Fixed in Time," except for the gilding. This case was in use from 1859 to 1862. So, if nobody repackaged the images or parts of the case, we have: 1858-1864 o9_OpArt mat 1858-1864 f9_acanthus preserver 1850-1859 gPaisleyFilled gilding 1859-1862 Paige's Geometric case The images were probably shot in 1859. |
