Andrea (in response to my query): This looks to me like a very nice light-cotton summer dress with corset & bustle, for a well-turned out young lady - but not a wedding dress. A coming out dress would have been a more substantial fabric too. Pete: I sent Ethel Baldwin's HS graduation dress to Andrea... Andrea: That makes sense - white cotton a concession to the warm weather (but it still looks like it would be rather warm to wear by modern standards, with all the "infrastructure" underneath!).
