Diane: Overlooking the Penobscolt river; Pete, Pete Jr & Dan are inside exploring. . This fort was never used, althought built in 1812 to prepare for defense of the Penobscot from the British. It includes miles and miles of tunnels; dungeons; officer's quarters and a parade ground in the center of the fortifications. . This is about 35 miles north of Lincolnville Beach on Rte 1. |
