| In 1894, the city of Buenos Aires invited Rodin to create a monument to Domingo Faustino Srmiento (1811-1888), president of Argentina from 1868 to 1874 and a famed advocate for public education. Rodin scupted Sarmiento striding forward, looking to the future. The completed monument, for which this is aone-third scale maquette, is installed in the Buenos Aires Park of the 3rd of February. |
