The print reproduced here shows the facade of Saint-Laurent in 1840, when there seems to have been a high window on either side of the portal. When it was installed at the museum, doorways were added at the left and right to recall the triple entrances popular in the region. Large Romanesque portals often had large sculpture over the doorway. If such ornamentation had existed in Saaint-Laurent, it had been removed by the time this print was made. |
