Mastbaum set about acquiring pieces in bronze, marble and plaster that presented a comprehensive view of Rodin's career, from the artist's public monumemnts to his working studies. . By the time of his death in 1926, Mastbaum had assembled the greatest collection of Rodin's sculptures outside of Paris and commissioned architect Paul Cret and landscape designer Jacques Greber to create a museum and garden in which to display them. The Rodin Museum was realized by his widow, Etta Wedell Mastbaum, and opened in 1929. . For more information about the museum and its collection, visit rodinmuseum.org. |
